Course Description

This overview course will teach you the essentials and best practices or management – or the art of getting things done effectively. You’ll learn the primary management disciplines used by successful business managers around the world. The courses emphasizes current management trends within a Canadian setting, with an additional focus on how real-world businesses operate within constantly evolving business environment.

Topics include:

  • The business of managing
  • Managing operations and information
  • Managing marketing
  • Managing financial issues

Course grads will be able to:

  • Capitalize on the economic ideas that underlie most business activities
  • Act in a range of managerial and entrepreneurial functions
  • Implement key processes related to the production of goods and services
  • Use basic marketing and financial management skills


Course Work and Final Exam

Course work for Business Management includes a series of assignments which are due throughout the semester.

Your final exam will be held at an exam centre local to you—the University of Toronto coordinates exam centres across Canada, and internationally when necessary. Exam dates cannot be changed. Visit the course calendar page to see exam dates for upcoming semesters as they are scheduled.

 

Learning Assessment & Grades

Grades are reported as Honours, Pass, or Fail. To obtain a Pass, learners must obtain a minimum grade of 50%. To achieve Honours, learners must earn a total grade of 80% or higher.
