TORONTO, August 22th, 2014 / Robert Ramsay, Chair of the board of CITT has announced that Laurie Turnbull, CCLP, has been selected to win the CITT Award of Excellence. The award is given to an individual whose career has exemplified innovation in the field of supply chain logistics and who has accumulated many notable achievements.
"I’ll admit, even though I’ve been with CITT for over 25 years, I was surprised and incredibly humbled to win the Award of Excellence," Mr. Turnbull said. "You can’t help but think of other candidates who are worthy of the award and the incredible list of previous winners. It feels like a real culmination of my career so far and my involvement with CITT."
Mr. Turnbull, who is currently Supply Chain Consultant at Cole International Inc. is well-known across the supply chain logistics sector, speaking at events for top organizations across Canada, including the Supply Chain Management Association of Canada (SCMA) and CITT, as well as writing as a contributing columnist for Canadian Shipper.
He has also taught countless professionals in the sector, acting as a CITT course facilitator and as faculty at community colleges such as Seneca College, Humber College, and Sheridan College.
Jack Bradley, CCLP, a previous winner of the Award of Excellence, believes nobody deserves the recognition more than Mr. Turnbull: "Laurie's professional abilities and dedication to promoting supply chain management education and CITT make him the perfect choice for this award. He is one of the most knowledgeable and skilled individuals in the field I’ve ever met. On a personal note, I have relied on Laurie’s advice throughout my career."
Mr. Bradley added that Mr. Turnbull continues to develop his skills, pursuing a Master of Science in Operations and Supply Chain Management at the University of Liverpool. "Laurie’s embracing of life-long learning is contagious."
Laurie Turnbull will be presented with the CITT Award of Excellence at the Gala Awards Dinner on October 24th at Canada Logistics Conference 2014 in Calgary.
