Royce Mendes recently joined Desjardins in 2022. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Western Ontario and a Master of Finance degree from the Smith School of Business, the business school affiliated with Queen’s University in Kingston. Royce also holds the CFA designation.
Before joining Desjardins, he held the role of Executive Director, Economics, at CIBC Capital Markets, where he led the firm’s efforts in monitoring and forecasting the Canadian economy, a team judged to be the most accurate by many independent polling firms in recent years. Previously, Royce held the positions of Portfolio Manager for Canada’s Foreign Exchange Reserves, Associate Editor for the Bank of Canada’s Financial System Review publication, and Principal Researcher in the Bank of Canada’s Financial Markets Department. Prior to that, he worked as an Equity Research Analyst at a Toronto-based hedge fund.
