Three years out from the COVID pandemic, in some ways the dust is settling. The takeaways from how supply chains were shocked have been poured over. But has that understanding meant meaningful changes in strategies and operations? Are those changes durable? And what are the other, unforeseen pressures caused by the pandemic that businesses haven't yet addressed, or addressed properly?

Joel MacKay, CCLP is the President and Owner of Mactrans Logistics Inc., a transportation based 3PL with offices across Canada. Mactrans has been named one of Canada’s Top-Growing Companies by the Globe & Mail for the last four years.  Joel is actively involved in the logistics industry and is on the National Board of Directors for CIFFA and chairs their Freight Brokerage committee.  He is also proud that Mactrans is an endorsed Logistics Employer and Business Partner of the CITT.

 

Nick Nanos, CCLP

As the Chief Supply Chain Officer, Nick Nanos oversees LCBO’s innovative supply chain operations and B2B operations, including inventory planning, transportation, logistics, distribution, quality assurance and wholesale. In this role, he and his team are responsible for moving 110 million cases of beverage alcohol products from more than 80 countries annually to retail and wholesale customers across Ontario. Nick has held progressive leadership positions throughout his three decades at the LCBO, spanning retail, distribution, finance, wholesale, internal audit, and supply chain. His leadership and logistics expertise has been critical to the modernization of LCBO’s supply chain and success of priority programs such as eCommerce and the creation of the LCBO’s wholesale operations. 

In addition to a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Studies and a post-graduate certificate in Executive Leadership from Queens University, Nick holds the CITT-Certified Logistics Professional (CCLP) designation – widely considered the gold standard of professional expertise in supply chain logistics.  He also holds the Certified Supply Chain Management Professional (CSCMP) designation from Supply Chain Canada, a Certificate in Logistics Management from the Schulich School of Business, and the designation of Certified Fraud Examiner from the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners.

Nick has been recognized for his academic and career accomplishments, Nick was honoured with the Drinks Ontario Industry Partnership Award in 2015, and received the J. Stuart Robertson Memorial Award, presented by the Canadian Transportation Education Foundation during his graduating year at CITT. Active in the community, Nick sits on the National Board of Directors with CITT, Trafalgar Senior Homes Ltd. & Oakville Community Homes Inc. He was also part of an expert panel advising Ministry of Government Services and Supply Ontario and a member of program advisory committees at Conestoga College and George Brown College.

He has held many positions in his 40-year career in the supply chain sector including, but not limited to: President & CEO for Brink’s Armoured Security Americas, President of Day and Ross Transportation and President & CEO of Consolidated Fastfrate Inc.

Larry’s academic foundation began at the University of Toronto, where he was later awarded the Top 40 in 40 years, most outstanding alumni status. With unwavering determination and tenacity, he also graduated from the Kellogg Business School at Northwestern University in Chicago for Finance and the Centre for Creative Leadership in Colorado Springs, CO for Leadership at the Peak. Demonstrating his commitment to continuous learning and industry expertise, Larry has acquired an impressive array of professional designations & certifications, including of course CCLP.

Recognized as one of Canada’s 100 Most Influential Women in Supply Chain, Lisa Vegso has over 25 years of experience in transportation and logistics and holds an MBA from McMaster University Degroote School of Business. She is a CITT Certified Logistics Professional (CCLP), member of the CITT Board of Directors, and vice-chair of the CITT Toronto area council, and is certified in logistics and supply chain practice by the Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals (CSCMP). In her role as Chief Commercial Officer at PECO Pallet, Lisa assumes commercial responsibility for sales and marketing across all North America, including business development, sales operations, and strategic sales planning. She also leads PECO’s company-wide Environment, Social and Governance (ESG) program
