Allan To is the President and CEO of Supply Chain Canada West, the nation’s largest association and legislated governing body for the supply chain management profession. Allan brings over 25 years of leadership experience spanning the energy, utilities, and construction sectors, where he has led multi-billion dollar strategic sourcing and capital projects and advanced sustainability and Indigenous business development initiatives.

A dedicated champion of the supply chain profession, Allan works to elevate its profile and build capacity across the country. He has served on the board of the Canadian Heavy Oil Association and actively contributes to industry advisory bodies including the City of Edmonton Sustainable Procurement Advisory Committee, the Construction Owners Association Alberta, and the Information and Communications Technology Council. He also shapes supply chain education through program advisory work with several post-secondary institutions in Alberta and British Columbia. Allan is a committed advocate for advancing supply chain management as a driver of economic growth, community resilience, and shared prosperity.

Sarah Barton is the Cargo Air Service Development Manager at the Calgary International Airport (YYC), where she plays a key role in advancing the airport’s air cargo services and development strategy. With a focus on business development, Sarah works closely with industry partners to evaluate and expand both cargo and passenger opportunities at YYC, ensuring the airport remains a vital hub for global logistics and trade. Her expertise in cargo operations, strategic planning, and stakeholder engagement helps drive innovative solutions that support the growth of YYC’s air cargo network.

Beyond her professional role, Sarah wears many hats as the Co-CEO of the Barton household, balancing a dynamic career with the fast-paced world of parenting teenagers. With a passion for logistics—both in the aviation industry and at home—Sarah thrives on keeping things moving efficiently while finding joy in every new challenge.

Alex Lowe is Director of E-Commerce, Cargo & Aviation Real Estate at Edmonton International Airport (YEG). He brings more than 20 years of diverse aviation industry experience, with the majority of his career focused on the air cargo sector. Prior to joining YEG, Alex spent 13 years with Cargojet, Canada’s largest all-cargo airline, where he held regional management roles and developed deep expertise in cargo operations and network growth.

At Edmonton International Airport, Alex leads the development and execution of strategies to expand YEG’s domestic and international air cargo network. He is responsible for ensuring the airport has the infrastructure, real estate, and operational capacity required to support its growth as a gateway for e-commerce and global logistics. Under Alex’s leadership, YEG has strengthened its position as a key cargo hub while advancing sustainable and responsible growth. He and his team are recognized as industry leaders in adopting innovative technologies and sustainability initiatives that support long-term economic and environmental resilience.

Julius Mooney joined WestJet in March 2023 as Director of Commercial for WestJet Cargo. After 7 Years in Freight forwarding with both Hellmann and BDP international, Julius spent over 8 years with Emirates SkyCargo based in Dubai, where he had a variety of roles in operations and commercial with a focus on special products and digital innovation.

Julius joined WestJet Cargo to spearhead the commercial department which includes Sales (Domestic and International), GSSA steering, Interline, customer service / contact center and Product Development. Post the decision to ground the dedicated freighters, Julius stepped into the position of Director of Cargo – responsible for the whole department including operations. His favorite Destination is FCO where he takes full advantage of pizza, pasta and the vino. In his spare time Julius enjoys anything outdoors, ranging from Golf to hiking to his real passion of mountaineering – where he has his sights on Scaling Denali in 2027.

 

Sarah Barton

Ben Speed

Manager, Regional Sales in Western Canada
Air Canada Cargo

 

Ben Speed is the Commercial Manager – Western Canada for Air Canada Cargo. Responsible for maintaining existing customer relationships and driving new business opportunities for the region, Ben has 25 years of airfreight experience spread across both freight forwarding companies and global air carriers. He started his career working for Exel Global Logistics as an entry level warehouse agent in the late 90’s before transitioning into an account manager role with British Airways World Cargo based in YYZ.  During this time he also received his Professional Freight Forwarders accreditation.  In 2008 he accepted a new positions with Air France/KLM to manage their sales and accounts for Vancouver, Calgary and Edmonton and has remained in western Canada since then, moving from Vancouver to Calgary in 2017 (so we could afford a house 😊).  He joined Air Canada Cargo in 2019 as a Strategic Account Manager before most recently accepting the position of Commercial Manager – Western Canada in 2024 looking after Manitoba to BC. 

When not working Ben can be found spending time with his wife, 3 year old daughter and French Bulldog skiing or camping in the Rockies, and being disappointed with his hockey team every April.
