The pandemic recovery has been bumpy and unpredictable, and at times, economic indicators have been at odds with one another. The unemployment rate has risen at the same time that employment ticked higher. Inflation is slowing but remains above target. What does all of this mean for the economic outlook? RBC Economist Carrie Freestone will explain what these indicators mean and discuss the near and medium-term trajectory for the Canadian economy with a close look at interest rates, inflation, recession outlook, and unemployment.
