CITT is pleased to announce that Port Saint John has been recognized as its most recent Endorsed Logistics Employer – and the first Port or marine-focused organization to earn the distinction.
CITT’s formal and informal collaboration with Port Saint John dates back many years. Key members of the Port Saint John team hold CITT’s CCLP designation, and the Port has been involved in CITT’s annual conference and other events.
“CITT’s endorsement of Port Saint John is a natural step in our relationship,” says Pina Melchionna, President & CEO of CITT. “We have seen first-hand Port Saint John’s commitment to professional excellence in logistics and to the betterment of the industry. The organization has a true understanding of the importance of ongoing learning, and I’ve worked personally with members of their team who have given their time as volunteers to CITT” she continues. “We’re looking forward to working with Port Saint John for many years to come as they continue to lead by example as a logistics employer.”
Andrew Dixon, CCLP, Chief Operating Officer and winner of the 2015 CITT Award of Excellence also commented on the recognition. “Port Saint John is a multi-modal logistics centre located on the East Coast of Canada; facilitating the movement of goods and people through our cargo and cruise sectors. Our Port invests heavily into employee training. We believe well-trained employees enable our team to further advance the economic development of our port and region," said Mr. Dixon.. "Without a well-trained team, we would not be able to properly fulfill our mandate as a Canadian Port Authority. CITT provides strong logistical education and certification. This education is key for many of our employees and their roles. As such, we’re excited to collaborate with CITT as one more tool available to our employees to grow their logistical skills and general education.”
