CITT Announces New Bursary to Support Professional Development for Members of Equity-Deserving Groups
Starting in January 2024, CITT – Canada’s Logistics Association – is offering financial support for members of marginalized groups who might not otherwise be able to afford the organization’s professional development offerings.
As part of CITT’s broader diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) strategy, the new bursary program was developed to help reduce economic barriers and promote diversity and inclusivity within the logistics profession.
“The bursary fund allows us to tap into talent and remove financial challenges marginalized groups experience in accessing professional development opportunities to advance their careers,” said Pina Melchionna, CITT’s President & CEO. “This is something that we have been working towards for several years, and we’re thrilled to have everything in place to launch the bursary opportunity in time for the winter 2024 semester.”
To be eligible for the bursary, individuals need to:
- Be a resident of Canada with a postal address in one of the Canadian provinces or territories and a valid Social Insurance Number.
- Identify with one (or more) equity-deserving groups, including: Indigenous Peoples, Persons with Disabilities, Visible Minorities, Women, and/or Immigrants to Canada.
- Have financial challenges that impede their ability to fund their studies without assistance.
The primary intention of the bursary is to support individuals with full funding towards individual courses towards the CITT-Certified Logistics Professional (CCLP®) designation. This education and professional credential can help open doors for rewarding employment in supply chain transportation and logistics at all levels of seniority, while also help individuals build a career path leading to increasingly senior leadership roles in a variety of related industries and vertical sectors.
Individuals who may qualify for bursary funding can learn more and begin the application process at www.citt.ca/scholarships. Organizations interested in contributing to the fund or offering a dedicated scholarship should contact Maria Murjani at mmurjani@citt.ca.
