Mely.ai Recognized with CITT’s 2026 Excellence in Innovation Award
CITT has recognized Mely.ai with the 2026 Excellence in Innovation Award (SME Category)
CITT is pleased to announce Mely.ai as the winner of the 2026 Excellence in Innovation Award – Small-Medium Enterprise category. The honour recognizes the company’s trailblazing work in AI-driven document automation and its unique, user-first approach to technical scalability and customer onboarding in the logistics sector.
While the sudden influx of "AI-branded" software-as-a-service (SaaS) platforms has flooded the supply chain marketplace recently, Mely.ai began building its foundational automated document processing models seven years ago—long before AI became an industry buzzword. That headstart has positioned them as a leader in the Canadian customs brokerage and freight space.
Agility by Design
Operating with a growing team of roughly 20 professionals across its technical and commercial divisions, Mely.ai maintains a highly agile development structure. Rather than locking themselves into rigid, multi-year product maps, the company restricts its development cycle to rolling three-to-six-month intervals. This rapid iteration allows them to instantly absorb feedback from the field and seamlessly adopt evolving technological capabilities.
Internally, innovation is driven by continuous learning. Employees across all departments are encouraged to integrate emerging tools into their workflows, including dedicated AI coaching and productivity apps.
Personalization via No-Code Architecture
A key driver behind Mely.ai’s selection for the Innovation Award is the recent maturation of their no-code platform infrastructure. Historically, integrating advanced AI document processing required long implementation timelines and ongoing developer hours. Mely.ai has effectively decentralized that process.
By engineering interactive AI agents capable of interpreting natural language instructions, Mely.ai allows standard administrative or operations users to customize document handling fields and define workflow exceptions autonomously.
According to Olha Mullyar, Account Executive at Mely.ai, shifting away from a services-heavy deployment model has redefined client independence.
"We've managed to create a tool that is now fully flexible," says Mullyar. "We share a master baseline environment with our clients, but on top of that, they can add their own customized features in minutes or hours. The system is easily manageable by completely non-tech people. Our team doesn't have to do any back-end technical setup for the client at all."
Solving the Operational "Resistance to Change"
Technological breakthroughs are meaningless without user adoption. During the platform’s commercial growth, Mely.ai recognized a recurring industry paradox: corporate leadership eagerly bought into the ROI of automation, but frontline operations teams frequently resisted changing their day-to-day workflows.
To bridge this gap, Mely.ai added dedicated change management expertise directly to their implementation team.
"It's not about the product; it's more about how people treat it, use it, and approach a new project that is AI-related," Mullyar explains. "We developed an entire workflow around commitment and finding the right people in place. We work with company management to help them convey that while day one of a transition might feel different, investing that upfront ramp-up time yields massive returns in long-term productivity."
Dominating the Canadian Market and Expanding South
As a homegrown Canadian entity, Mely.ai has successfully leveraged its local presence to become the premier automation vendor for Canadian customs brokers who deal with highly specific, localized trade compliance data. With that domestic market share firmly established, the company is actively scaling abroad. Mely.ai now has a permanent presence in Singapore and is making international inroads both with new and existing clients.
The broader logistics community is taking notice. What was once a slow-moving, relationship-driven sector reliant on early adopters taking a "leap of faith" has fundamentally shifted.
"The focus has completely switched," notes Mullyar. "Early adopters have proven the use cases. They are achieving better operational efficiency and delivering white-glove service to their own clients because they aren't bogged down by data entry. Other companies realize that to stay competitive, this level of automation is no longer just a nice-to-have; it's mandatory."
CITT congratulates the entire team at Mely.ai for their outstanding contributions to supply chain technology and for setting a new benchmark for practical innovation.
