Human trafficking is one of the fastest-growing crimes in Canada, and Canada’s transportation corridors are often used to transport victims. As such, raising awareness of the signs of human trafficking within the transportation industry is an important way of combatting trafficking.
Founded in 2017 by Canadian country superstar Paul Brandt, #NotInMyCity has provided a platform for education and empowerment for communities, organizations, and individuals to prevent and disrupt human trafficking.
“On behalf of #NotInMyCity and our network of partners across the country, I want to extend a warm welcome to CITT,” says Paul Brandt, Founder, #NotInMyCity. “The transportation industry has a unique opportunity to help recognize and disrupt human trafficking on the frontlines. By working together, we can strengthen awareness across supply chains and transportation networks, helping prevent exploitation in communities across Canada.”
As part of the partnership, #NotInMyCity will be hosting a webinar for CITT’s members on April 8th, 2026, addressing key points for those working in transportation logistics. Registration is available here.
“#NotInMyCity has been conducting tremendously important work raising awareness about an issue that requires vigilance from everyone in communities and industry,” says Pina Melchionna, President & CEO of CITT. “We’re proud of our industry and its role as a pillar of the Canadian economy. But we also realize there’s work to do for us to be prouder still – particularly as it relates to human trafficking awareness and action,” she continues. “We applaud the efforts of #NotInMyCity and look forward to collaborating closely with them in the years ahead.
