Rail was no exception to the supply chain chaos that struck in 2020. And while much of transportation by rail is a constant, the industry is now facing a slew of new challenges and opportunities.

Changing customer and consumer demands, the evolution of our economy, and implications from pivots in domestic and international supply chains are affecting the way railways and their shippers do business - and plan on doing business.

John Corey is the President of the Freight Management Association of Canada (FMA).  A professional accountant by training, John spent 28 years at the Canadian Transportation Agency, working in both the Air and Rail branches of the Agency, where he played a major role in dispute resolution between the federally-regulated freight railways and shippers. As President of the FMA, he advocates on behalf of Canadian shippers with all levels of government and transportation regulators.

Brian spearheads Cando's operations across Canada and the U.S. and is responsible for leading the strategic direction and growth of the company. Under Brian’s direction since 2015, Cando has made great strides in enhancing its safety-first culture and has received numerous national awards for safety. Utilizing his superior people-management and strategic planning skills, Brian has helped Cando remain one of Canada’s Best Managed Companies for the last six years. He also oversaw large growth and service expansion which led to a huge investment in the company in 2018 by a private equity firm, followed four years later by the acquisition of the company by a global infrastructure investor. Brian’s dedication to innovation and solutions led him to successfully realign service delivery, safety, and business development in a way that better serves Cando’s customers. Prior to joining Cando, Brian led a technology-enabled business process outsourcing company, where he was instrumental in developing the organization to become the preferred toll highways management services firm in the U.S., growing that company from 400 to over 3,000 employees. Brian has held leadership roles in industry operations, business development and client services for several other companies, and also served in the Canadian Air Force as a Navigator for 13 years. Brian serves on the Railway Association of Canada’s Board of Directors and the WESTAC Board of Directors. 

Jordan Kajfasz
AVP, International Intermodal and Autos

Jordan Kajfasz is the Assistant Vice-President Sales and Marketing for CP’s International Intermodal and Automotive lines of business. In his role, he is responsible for leveraging CP’s coast-to-coast reliable service and network capacity to grow the business and develop lasting relationships with customers. Prior to joining CP in 2017, Jordan’s career focused on international supply chain working for the Vancouver Port Authority and Maersk Line. He spent over 10 years at Maersk in various postings in Canada, the United States and West Africa in the company’s liner shipping, trucking, terminals and logistics divisions. Jordan holds a Master’s Degree from the University of Denver Transportation Institute and Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Toronto.

Girish Nair
AVP International Intermodal Sales & Marketing
CN Rail

Girish joined CN in January 2012. As AVP International Intermodal Sales & Marketing, his responsibilities include expanding reach to markets while also optimizing the CN Rail network to create supply chain products that resonate with key industries, segments and customers within international trade. His previous roles involved developing a transportation management platform to support CN’s digitization initiative, and also developing one of the industry’s best cold supply chain products to meet the growing needs of the North American food industry. Prior to joining CN, Girish worked for COSCO container lines in their Middle East Regional office. Girish holds an MBA from the University of Leicester, UK.
